Chart of the Week: 10/13/08
Since 2000, the published tuition (blue line) at private universities has continued to rise faster than inflation. This has taken place without any substantial increases institutional aid (the difference of the blue and red lines). As a result the financial burden on students has grown rapidly, in a time when the returns for a college education are falling.
